Would it surprise you to know that names like Houston, Dallas, and Austin are Scottish names??
The Texas Scottish Heritage Society was formed to research those of Scottish heritage and the impact they have had on Texas history, and to promote and preserve the unique cultures of Texas and Scotland through research, education and public awareness.
The state of Texas can trace it’s Scottish roots back to the days of Texas colonization and fight for independence, as well as into the current days where Texas nurtures and trains some of the world’s greatest bagpipers and highland dancers!
You can find the Scottish influence from the walls of the Alamo to NASA – in huge gatherings at Scottish cultural events and in private homes and lives throughout the state.
