National Tartan Day
On April 6 join us to celebrate National Tartan Day, the day officially recognized by the United States Congress to honor the many contributions that Scots-Americans have made to the character and development of the United States.
National Tartan Day is an annual day set aside by the U.S. Congress to recognize the contributions of Scottish Americans. April 6th was chosen because it was on that date in 1320 that the Scottish document “The Declaration of Arbroath” was written. This Scottish document was the model for our own U.S. Declaration of Independence. Events will be held throughout the great state of Texas to honor this day!
For Texas Tartan Day Events
Stone carver Frank Maurer created the Tartan Day Stone for Texas from our native Limestone, using only mallet and chisel to hand-carve symbols representing our state. The Texas stone is one in a series that Maurer has created to commemorate Tartan Day throughout the United States.
