Subject: Barbara Zoe Alexander 1948 -- 2007
Date: Sat, 06 Oct 2007 23:38:40 -0500

It is with a very heavy heart that I must report the tragic death of my very best friend, Barbara Zoe' ALexander. She was driving home from work in Austin last Thursday evening when a car crossed the highway median and slammed into the driver's door of her van, killing her instantly. This news is from her niece, Melanie Heinrich, of Houston. Melanie reported that she apparently did not suffer, but mercifully died very quickly. Plans are being made to have a memorial service, tentatively set for the first weekend in November, at Zoe's lovely home which she had named "Avalon on Lake Nowanthen." It is located near Bastrop, Texas. I will keep you posted as to dates and times, driving directions, etc. Saturday, November 3, 2007 has been suggested, but that is not firm as yet. I hope several of her friends from the Scottish community in Houston will be able to attend, wearing their kilts and full regalia.

The family has asked me to help them with one detail. They are in need of a piper, if you know of anyone who would like to come and honor the memory of this great lady with their piping skills. I am sure he will be well compensated.

Her current boss is the senior partner of a very respectable Austin law firm. He came to her house to be with the family today. Melanie said he was visibly shaken. He has graciously extended the full services of his firm to the family to help with any legal matters.

Zoe and I had been talking about having The Feast at her place either this year or next. Looks like we waited just a bit too late. [Sigh]

She was not a practicing Christian, but had been raised in the Pentacostal church and had been baptized, so . . . SHE SHALL RISE. I believe it with all my heart.

Through my many tears,
Mary Walker
