I am the first of my family to live in Texas and I am here due to being transferred to Shreveport to work for General Motors. Joyce's mother was a Wallace. My Dunns came to Penn. and the Whites to Delaware. Dunn's to Georgia due to being soldiers. Lived in Ala. where Lake Guntersville now is, which area was flooded for water. My dad, the 4th. Williamalma Clifton Dunn married my mother, Emmaline Ginn, whose mother was a Cherokee Indian Woman and stopped off in Arkansas during trail of tears as she married a Scot, name of Ginn who was descendant of a Lawson from Scotland. They met (my folks) in Arkansas and followed harvest one year as a large group to Missouri where they married. Came back to Arkansas and ended up with 7 children, me being #2. I am considered by tribe and have papers showing 1/2 Cherokee and my daughter Frances, is chief for East Texas Cherokee Indians of Georgia Federation licensed by the State of Georgia. My dad worked in Indiana as did my mother during WW2, but came back to Ark. I moved to Calif. after school grad. Have about 5 years, college, communications, broadcasting and got a CPA to be sure to be able to eat. LOL Married a Yankee, and stayed with that mistake to the tune of 16 years and 5 children, one of which only lived 1 day. My maiden name was Dunn and married Cole. I took Dunn back during Divorce proceedings. I have always known I was a Gregor and my Grannie Ginn used to use the fact that there was a King in the family, I had to be a lady. LOL All the family records went thru default to an Uncle by marriage and was lost in a flood on the Miss. river, in which he was drowned. I has taken me about 20 years to undo or redo the family tree. I have spent lots of my recent past in Scotland. The Whites entered the Dunn family with a daughter marrying my Grandfather. The first White came over was a Dr. Robert who had been shanghaied as a Dr. for the English ship. He got off board in Delaware and deserted. Kinda zig-zagged around the colonies to avoid English. His son, Alexander was one of the delegates and helped formulate the Constitution of the United States. One of my grandmothers, whose daughter Elizabeth married a Hooper was an Adams, related to Presidents John and John Quincy Adams. Wm. Hooper, her uncle as well, signed the Dec. of Independance as did 3 others of my descendants. The Dunn first in America, was gr. son of Rob Roy McGregor, through his first son, James. He married a G. dau of Lord of Mar & Dun, and as Gregor was a proscribed name, was allowed to use Dunn. Her name was Frances Erskine. The 2 names ave been used in family, and my nephew is 7th. of William Clifton (Willialma then is William )and my daughter about same of name,Frances. This is personal info capsule of me. Age aint your business, but I am not too old to chase Kilted young men. LOL This info can be used if you want, and our group started about 1986 at Arlington. A gentleman of Gregor TOM was setting up in Salado earlier and Ernest Scott Johnson helped him until he quit. Ernest sorta inherited it and we met for first time when we went to salado in 1986 and decided we were just too wonderful not to get together and let the rest of the clans start to realize it. LOL For serious, I have been blessed with meeting some of the greatest family in the world. If you need info, contact: Theresa Creel e-mail is moodyleo@aol.com our secretary. She will send you some info and if you do not have an Application blank, will see that one is remitted. Some of the Scottish scenes and clothing we wear can be seen at www.geocities.com/geocities.
